Post Striper boils in lower Lake Mohave

I know this forum is kind of Willow beach oriented but I thought I would toss this in for those that might be interested.
The striper were boiling in the Princess Cove area last sat. thru Mon. Yes I did see striper boils in Lake Mohave. Yes I did catch some striper out of these boils. Yes I do have pictures to prove it. I can't remember ever seeing boils in Lake Mohave but sure enough they were there last weekend. Before you go grabbing your Pencil Poppers I am afraid they have stopped as of Tues. the 16th of Oct. or at least I have not seen them in the last three days. I first spotted them Saturday afternoon and was unable to catch any. I guess I had a kind of "buck fever" because I was fumbling around trying switch tackle and get up to them before they went down. I came home with 4 poles all tangled together. It was pretty windy Sunday but Monday I got out and caught 6 all together. They went from 4 lbs. 22" to 6.5 lbs. 26". It sure was a kick fishing like that again. I haven't seen that kind of action since the late 70's when there were so many below Davis Dam. I have been catching striper pretty regularly for the past month. I have been trolling for a couple hours between sunset and dark. I would pick up one rarely two and occasionally none. I am glad to see the striper making a showing but I am bummed that they disappeared. I was also disappointed in the size of the shad. They were barely 2". I would have thought they would be much larger this time of year. I know one thing that didn't chase them off and that was fishing pressure. I saw a half dozen boats all day Monday and only one spotted the boils and didn't appear to be prepared for that kind of fishing. Well that is all I got now. See ya on the lake. Dave (lastcastdave)

Great information, and of course we are interested in all locations on Lake Mohave. The elusive shad is rare in Lake Mohave these days, but clearly not gone for good. Maybe this is a prelude to good numbers next year??
